Join us in supporting authentic change in the Logan neighborhood. We can inspire students to be confident readers through wide choices and diverse libraries.
Reading is the primary way we explore and learn about our world. Without a confident foundation in literacy, students will struggle to thrive in all other subjects. The best way to encourage the love and exploration of reading is through choices. Having a wide choice of books in every classroom is a great way to encourage students to read on their own. Reading for pleasure promotes literacy skills, vocabulary, and confidence!
Additionally, it's vital for students to see themselves represented in the books they read! In children's books, 50% of main characters are white, 27% are animals, 10% are Black, and 7% are Asian according to a 2018 study from the School Library Journal. Your donation would specifically go towards books that better reflect these underrepresented groups. Simply put, we want Logan's children to see themselves in the books they read!
With your help, we can stock the libraries and stretch our minds.
